White Design was starting from scratch and so needed completely new hardware. A well specified server was chosen that could be easily upgraded, although the spec would be suitable to take them to 30 staff members without an upgrade.
The desktops had to be of a high specification since they all needed to run AutoCAD on Windows XP Pro.
Files and printers were shared through Samba running on the server, Postfix/IMAP sorted their email and internet security was managed by a caching proxy server.
A web based contact management and job management system was implemented too so this required a web server and a database server (Apache and PostgreSQL respectively).
White Design also wanted on demand support, so they took advantage of remote support that Monasis offer which allows us to login to any of White Design's workstations.
